Senior Housing Initiative Rural Community Action Ministry (RCAM) is developing a Residential Home for seniors at risk of becoming homeless. The property adjacent to our office and located at 87 Church Hill Road has been purchased through a grant from Maine State Housing Authority specifically for this purpose. Renovation plans have been initiated and modifications to the existing building are due to begin early this Spring. It is expected that the new accommodations will be available for occupancy early in the Fall of 2010. Further information will be available as the project develops. Meanwhile feel free to contact Gill Ward at 524-5095 with any questions you may have.
What? Free Money for RCAM? Recently we have signed up for two programs that will give us money each time someone uses their service and selects RCAM as the agency to receive these funds........ This is a search engine site, powered by Yahoo. It works like other search engines, except that they have developed a way to direct money to the charity of your choice. Every time you use GoodSearch, money goes to your favorite charity. In order to support RCAM, go to the Good Search website, type in Rural Community Action Ministry in the space labeled "Who do you GoodSearch for?" and then hit the verify button. The more people who use this site and select RCAM, the more money will go to those in need in out 13 rural communities. With each search you launch on GoodSearch.com, about 1 cent goes to the charity or school of your choice. If 1,000 people with the same charity search twice a day for a year, the charity earns $7,300. Go to the CharityBlast website, click the "Shop for my Cause" tab and from the Start Here Box go to the Search by Organization drop down tab, find and click on Rural Community Action Ministry and then check out all the stores who participate in this program! As you shop and save at participating online stores, CharityBlast automatically donates a portion of your sale to your cause. Just select RCAM and a percentage of everything you buy through this site is given to RCAM. Some online stores donate as much as 30%. There's a wide range of online stores who participate in this program, from Target, Best Buy and Staples to Expedia, Dell, Old Navy and eBay. Everything from Apparel, Books, Music, Computers and even food!! We hope you'll give these two programs a try and also spread the word to your friends and family. It will generate funds to help carry out the important work RCAM does for our most vulnerable neighbors, and it will cost you nothing!
